Weekly Update 3/14/25

March 14th, 2025 by Mike Perez

Good afternoon, Pinkerton Community,

I hope that everyone has had a great week and is ready for the weekend.  This week I would like to spotlight our Dean of Support Services, Ms. Heather Barrieau.

Heather has been with Pinkerton for the past 18 years in several different roles.  She got her start at the University of New Hampshire where she received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and then moved right into working on her Master’s degree in Social Work.   Heather began her career as a child and family therapist, a role she held for five years before transitioning to an Adjustment Counselor position in the PASSES program at Pinkerton Academy.  It was there that she discovered her deep appreciation for education.  Over the years her interest in Special Education and School Administration grew, and she went on to further her education at Southern New Hampshire University, earning a Master’s of Education in School Leadership. Since then, she has served as a Program Coordinator, Assistant Director of Special Education, and now, Dean of Support Services. In this role, she oversees School Counseling, Special Education, the Health Office, and Alternative Learning.

In her free time, she loves cheering on her children, Aaron and Gwen, in their athletic pursuits, including soccer, tennis, and track. I also enjoy spending time at the beach with my husband and taking the occasional (she said occasional - more like frequent) getaway to Disney World.

Weekly Highlights:

Important PSAT/SAT Testing Info - Students in grades 9, 10, and 11 were sent an email with their PSAT or SAT Digital Readiness Check room assignment for Monday.  Students are to report directly to the room indicated in the Email during FLEX on Monday.  The Digital Readiness Check ensures that students' Chromebooks are ready for testing.  Please ensure that students come to school on Monday with their Pinkerton-issued Chromebooks since the Digital Readiness Check and testing can only take place on a school device.

Students will be taking the test in the same room as their digital readiness check on April 2nd.

Spring Sports - Spring Sports begin on March 24. Anyone interested in trying out must be registered before the start of tryouts.

Mattress Fundraiser - the Leadership Council of Athletics is running a mattress fundraiser this Sunday, March 16, from 10 AM - 4 PM in the Shepard Auditorium.  Come check it out!

Save a Life Tour -  On Thursday, March 20th, the Save a Life Tour is coming to Pinkerton. The Save A Life Tour is a comprehensive, high-impact, safe driving awareness program that informs, educates, and demonstrates the potentially deadly consequences resulting from poor choices and decisions made by the operator of a motor vehicle.

Little Astros -  It is that time of year again! Students in Careers in Education 1 are welcoming preschoolers into Room 5-202 showing their passion for working with children and their knowledge of child growth and development. On red days in April, sessions will be held from approximately 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. This is ideal for 3-5 year old children you may know with a stay-at-home caregiver! Please contact Steph Raudonis at [email protected] or Samantha Smith at [email protected] with any questions you have or for more information.
