Press Release from the School Counseling Department
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. We know that 1 in 6 young people have experienced a major depressive episode and that suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people ages 10-24. Student safety is a priority for Pinkerton Academy and we have a robust Peer to Peer Suicide Prevention Program taught to students by students in Health classes. Press Release from the School Counseling Department
On May 15th, Prevention Specialist Julie Donovan and School Resource Officer Kevin Davies presented valuable information on alcohol, marijuana, and fake pills. Students were allowed to participate in a “sobriety checkpoint” using Fatal Vision goggles that mimic the effects of being under the influence. These lessons were taught to the juniors in AP US History classes as part of a prevention effort before this weekend's prom.
