Weekly Update 1/26/2024
January 26th, 2024
Pinkerton Families and Friends,
Welcome to Semester 2! We're excited for a reset and a fresh start, and I wish everyone a successful and rewarding semester ahead. If you have any questions or need assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to someone. Let's make this semester a great one!
This week, I want to spotlight Mrs. Julia Mitchell, our Director of Communications. Mrs. Mitchell graduated from Pinkerton Academy in 1998 and continued her education at Saint Anselm College, majoring in English with a minor in Spanish and Education. In the fall of 2002, she returned to Pinkerton Academy as an English teacher. Transitioning to a part-time teaching position and part-time Director of Communications in 2018, she started full-time in her current role in January of 2019.
Mrs. Mitchell plays an important role within our Pinkerton community. Serving as the Director of Communications, she manages and supervises the communication and information between Pinkerton Academy and our community, both on and off campus. Mrs. Mitchell collaborates closely with all departments and school community members to craft effective messaging and communication and to utilize the various channels of communication: website, social media, audio, video, press releases, and more.
Preferring to work behind the scenes (she hates that I’m doing this), Mrs. Mitchell acts as a sounding board to many colleagues and is an important voice on campus. She is charged with making sure all Pinkerton Academy materials have consistent and positive messaging and branding and conducting quality control on all communications. She works to develop relationships with media outlets and other organizations and attends speaking engagements. A member of our Incident Command team, she responds to crises or challenging situations quickly and professionally. Beyond Pinkerton, Mrs. Mitchell is a member of the executive board for the New England School Public Relations Association and has given several presentations about the importance of school communications.
We are grateful to have Mrs. Mitchell as part of our team!
