Weekly Update 1/19/2024
January 19th, 2024
Pinkerton Families and Friends,
We have made it ¾ of the way through mid-term exams, and we as a community are getting ready for the second semester. Just a reminder that there is no school on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, due to the NH Primary.
This week I would like to profile the Social Studies department led by the Social Studies Associate Head of Academics, Steven Gaudreau. Our Social Studies Department is committed to providing a comprehensive and well-rounded curriculum that equips students with the knowledge and critical thinking skills needed to understand the world around them. Social Studies courses trace the origins of democratic principles, show how and why principles of democracy have flourished, and encourage responsible citizenship. Social science education is also important because it contributes to the growth and development of the individual. By examining human behavior; the stages of social, cultural, and scientific development; and the problems that confront modern society, students develop a better understanding of who they are and where they have come from.
Our educators leverage a variety of teaching methods, including interactive discussions, project-based learning, and real-world applications such as the Ellis Island Experience guest speakers, field trips and much more to make the study of social studies a dynamic and meaningful experience. I am proud of our dedicated and passionate faculty members who bring their expertise and enthusiasm to the classroom every day with a wide range of experience ranging from a 1st-year teacher to a 35-year veteran. The Social Studies Department invites you to explore a diverse range of courses, many with multiple levels of difficulty.
