exchange student sponsor application

If you are a student who would like to attend Pinkerton Academy as an exchange student on a J-1 visa, your J-1 Visa sponsor must apply on your behalf. J-1 Visa sponsors are U.S.-based organizations—such as universities, companies, or non-profits—authorized by the U.S. Department of State to administer Exchange Visitor Programs. These sponsors issue the required DS-2019 form and guide participants through the cultural exchange process.

Please only fill out the below application if you are an approved J-1 Visa sponsor.

sponsor information

In carrying out the responsibilities of the Exchange Visitor Program, the Department of State designates public and private entities to act as exchange program sponsors. J-1 nonimmigrants are therefore sponsored by an exchange program that is designated as such by the U.S. Department of State. These programs are designed to promote the interchange of persons, knowledge, and skills, in the fields of education, arts, and science. An exchange visitor is generally admitted for duration of status (D/S). Thus, the program duration on their DS-2019 governs their status, and an exchange visitor cannot and need not file a request for extension of stay with USCIS. Generally, an exchange visitor maintains status while they continue to engage in program activities as required by the terms of their program.
