Weekly Update 4/18/25
April 18th, 2025
Good afternoon,
This past week was filled with significant events for our students. Juniors and freshmen completed their state science and civics testing, while our seniors enjoyed bonding activities in the Hackler Gym. Our sophomore class had the distinct privilege of hearing from a guest speaker presented by the PA School Counseling Department: Scarlett Lewis from the Choose Love Movement.
Following the tragic loss of her six-year-old son, Jesse, in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting of December 2012—a horrific event that remains a significant moment in U.S. history—Scarlett Lewis founded the Choose Love Movement. Jesse's extraordinary bravery in his final moments saved the lives of nine of his first-grade classmates. The movement's core message, "Nurturing, Healing, Love," represents its foundational values. Scarlett Lewis emphasizes that the individual meanings of these words create a powerful formula for choosing love.
Thank you to our amazing sophomore class for their respectful attention and thoughtful questions. You represented Pinkerton well!
