Weekly Update 10/11/24
October 11th, 2024
Hello Pinkerton Community,
It's hard to believe that October is already here! The leaves are starting to change color and the mornings are getting crisp. We had a fantastic Freshman Reception last night, and the students seemed to have a great time. Next weekend, we're looking forward to the performance of Dandelion Wine. The students are excited and have been working incredibly hard to prepare. Throughout the next few weeks, our athletic teams will be preparing and finishing up with their Senior Nights and getting ready for playoffs.
This week I would like to spotlight the Office of Institutional Advancement led by the Director of Advancement Dr. Laura Peña Pantano. Dr. Pantano comes to us from the higher education administration sector where she spent the last 26 years. Dr. Pantano’s role will be focused on providing direction for the department, stewardship, and cultivating a culture of philanthropy and giving here at Pinkerton Academy. She is thrilled to be part of a talented team of individuals who will be focused on how we can support and enhance Pinkerton Academy's academic and extracurricular activities through philanthropy and giving.
We're excited to announce a new position this year, the Development Engagement Coordinator. Our renowned basketball coach, Michael Dunham, has taken on this role. A 2004 graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Mike has been with us for the past four years. His primary responsibilities include building relationships with local businesses and spearheading fundraising initiatives.
Our Alumni department includes two outstanding individuals, Meagan Sojka and Mary Chase. Meagan, our Alumni Relations Coordinator, has been with us for five years. She's committed to keeping alumni informed about Pinkerton and fostering their connection to our school through events, networking, and communication. Meagan loves working with her fellow alumni and loves hearing what school was like for them and how some traditions remain to this day.
Mary is our Database Specialist and is in her 3rd year here at Pinkerton Academy. She manages the Advancement / Alumni office’s fundraising database which consists of more than 51,000 alumni, parents, students and donors. Mary says the best part of her job is the people she works with and she definitely has support from the PA community and she works with a strong team.
The Office of Institutional Advancement develops and implements fundraising strategies to secure financial support for the Academy. If you'd like to make a donation to PA today, you may do so at /support/support-pinkerton

Weekly Shout Outs
SHOUT OUTS TO…
All the faculty, staff, and administration who worked to make the Freshman Reception a success: Thank you all for working together to welcome the Class of 2028!
STUDENT SHOUT OUTS:
Micah Eaton: Micah volunteered to help a student in class who had a language barrier. He has taught himself multiple languages and used that to assist a fellow student. He could have stayed quiet, but he chose to assist and lend a helping hand.
Julia Levreault, Kayleigh Lorenzini, Miles Small, Jessica Jillson, Lilliana Cunha, Lucy Denu, Kayla Silveria, Elise Collins, Rebecca Gill: This group of students recently visited several kindergarten classrooms at the Auburn Village School and the Henry W. Moore School. They made meaningful connections and shared information about Pinkerton. These students are amazing ambassadors, and the admissions office is fortunate to have such dedicated representatives showcasing the school’s spirit so brilliantly.
Respectfully,
Michael Perez
