Weekly Update 12/8/23
December 8th, 2023
Pinkerton Families and Friends,
I trust this message finds you in good health and anticipating the upcoming holiday season, along with a well-deserved break just a few weeks away. As the year draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the past 12 months, contemplating the significant aspects of my life and evaluating how I've interacted with those I've encountered.
In my new role as the Associate Head of School at Pinkerton Academy, I want to share some key principles that guide me in becoming a better individual, leader, and mentor. Amidst the events that have unfolded in the world and even in our community this past year, it's crucial to acknowledge that our school exists within a diverse landscape of cultures and perspectives at the local, state, national, and global levels.
My aim is to contribute to any community I'm a part of by fostering an inclusive environment that embraces individuals and viewpoints from various cultural backgrounds and ways of life. I firmly believe in the uniqueness of each person and the importance of our individual perspectives. It is entirely acceptable to have differing opinions, and I emphasize the importance of mutual respect and appreciation for our differences. These differences define our humanity and are essential for the functioning of our world, enabling communities to flourish.
Weekly Highlights:
Day of Giving - Thank you to the Pinkerton Community for great participation in our Day of Giving!
Sophomore Semi-Formal Dance - This yearly event will be on Saturday Night, December 9, 2023, from 7:00 - 10:00 pm. Just a reminder that all school rules will apply at this event. I know the sophomore class has put a lot of effort into this event, and I hope all of our students who are attending enjoy the night.
Equestrian Club Fundraiser - On December 13, 2023, the PA Equestrian Club will conduct a fundraiser at the Labelle Lights - $20 for adults and $10 for students. On that evening half of the ticket sales sold will go back to the club.
Instrumental Holiday Concert - This event will be in the Stockbridge Theatre on Wednesday Night, December 13, 2023, at 7:00 pm.
Choral & Bell Choir Holiday Concert - This event will be in the Stockbridge Theatre on Thursday Night, December 14, 2023, at 7:00 pm.
Calendar Change - Recently the Secretary of State set the NH primary date for Tuesday, January 23rd. That means a shift in our calendar – the PL day scheduled for January 26th will now be on the 23rd. You can find the updated year and red/white calendars on our website.
Weekly Shout Outs:
SHOUT OUTS TO…
Katie Resmini and Sue Tsantoulis - for helping out the Admin team with some professional development opportunities.
STUDENT SHOUT OUTS:
Pinkerton Academy Student Council and Management Team Members - for hosting and participating in the holiday Gingerbread house-making contest.
- A special SHOUT OUT to my team - we all know who really won!!!!!!
Laura Palazzo and Ariana Claesson - For taking the student lead on the Cosmo Closet Project. This is a project being overseen by Brenda Stribling that will eventually be a place for people in need of apparel and personal products. This is such an amazing opportunity to give back to the communities that we serve and educate.
Respectfully,
Michael Perez
Associate Head of School
