As a unique, independent academy, Pinkerton Academy's mission is to strive to ensure the growth of all students in a challenging, respectful, and collaborative environment. The Academy fosters a student-centered community with purposefully designed, interactive and relevant learning opportunities.

Pinkerton Academy Board of Trustees President Dr. William A. Nevious has announced that Dr. Timothy J. Powers has been elected as the school’s next Headmaster, effective July 1, 2019. Powers will continue to serve as the Interim Headmaster for the current school year. His experience at Pinkerton Academy has included the positions of Athletic Director and Dean of Students.

“I am honored to be selected as the next headmaster,” said Powers. “The different roles I have had here have given me many opportunities to see Pinkerton’s care and commitment to its student-centered mission and vision. The skill set needed to honor that commitment matches my passion for teamwork and community building, which is the cornerstone of the over 200-year tradition of excellence that is Pinkerton Academy.”

Before being named Pinkerton’s Athletic Director in 2010, Powers was Athletic Director at Pelham High School where he also taught mathematics. An active member of each community he has been involved in, Powers has most recently become a member of the Derry Village Rotary. He currently volunteers on several NHIAA committees and coaches youth programs. Powers graduated from Saint Anselm College with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Business before completing his EdD in Administrative Leadership from Walden University.

“I’m excited to continue working with the exceptional Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and students of Pinkerton Academy,” said Powers. “We will continue to explore ways to make our school even better and be sure that everyone feels like a part of the community.”

“Dr. Powers will continue leading Pinkerton Academy with unpretentious care, integrity and intelligence. Tim has proven to be truly committed to Pinkerton’s student-centered mission and vision, and has demonstrated his passion for teamwork and collaborative leadership,” said Dr. Nevious. “The Board of Trustees is confident that Dr. Powers will capitalize on the strengths of Pinkerton’s historic traditions while maintaining and motivating a highly qualified and diverse faculty and staff to provide students with opportunities and skills for the 21st century.”
